TEACHING STATEMENT

My teaching practice is grounded in the belief that breath is the primary organizer of movement and awareness. I value learning as an embodied process that unfolds through exploration and reflection. My classes prioritize integration, choice, and adaptability, allowing students to meet the work from their own physical histories and needs. I offer structured prompts and layered tasks that encourage students to listen closely to sensation, make informed decisions, and build sustainable movement practices. My goal is to empower students to recognize their bodies as intelligent systems.

Level: All Levels (can be modified)

The class begins with a guided breath exercise and body scan to ground attention and establish internal rhythm, followed by playful Pilates-based explorations emphasizing spinal articulation, core-to-limb connectivity, and adaptable support. As movement expands into connective and traveling patterns, participants are introduced to a simple set combination that serves as an anchor while allowing variation in timing, effort, and pathway. The workshop concludes with improvisation centered on memory and shared awareness. Participants draw from sensations and experiences developed throughout the class, functioning as both movers and witnesses in a collaborative movement environment.
